The Catholic Cathedral

Although I’ve lived in the city for more than a quarter of a century, I’m still unable to make up my mind about the architectural merits of the Catholic Cathedral. Part of me thinks it’s a late Victorian gothic monstrousity, but another part of me is actually quite fond of the grandiose mish-mash of the exterior, the infernal inelegance of the haphazard design, and the intricately carved gargoyles and other stone creatures that give the impression of having just clambered all over the walls to find a ledge from which to spy on us mere mortals as we pass by below them.

However, the interior of the building is nothing but a vast empty godless space, echoing with a heavy sense of yearning that does nothing but suffocate the spirit.
