The Jews in the well

In 2004, during the construction of the Chapelfield shopping centre, the skeletons of seventeen people were discovered. They had been thrown into a well which had occupied this site, and DNA tests on the remains indicated the likelihood that they were all members of a single Jewish family, dating back to the 12th or 13th centuries, a time when Jewish people were being persecuted throughout Europe.
